about

Pronounced "tha-th boo-ah lit-leer dver-gaar" the song is a traditional song in Germany where it is best known as "Ein Männlein steht im Walde" from the opera Hansel und Gretal. However, in Iceland it's a children's song, and here is a live version of the tune I originally released on the CD "Songs from Iceland" which featured Tony Malaby and Drew Gress.

Taken from a concert at House of Sweden in Washington DC, which was part of the Scandinavian Jazz Festival. It was just two days before the quartet went into the studio in NY, the results of which will be released soon. Check www.sunnagunnlaugs.com for updates.

about

"Fine musicians seem to be among Iceland's most visible exports these days, and pianist Sunna Gunnlaugs is proof that jazz is as much a part of the picture as the pop of Björk or Sigur Ros."
